Bakery customers buy with their eyes first: the blistered crust on a boule, the open crumb of sourdough, the layers inside a torn croissant, the glaze on a fruit tart. They also want to know whether you take birthday cake orders, when the bread comes out warm and whether there's anywhere to sit. That's why product close-ups work alongside the storefront, a full display case in the morning and hands shaping dough on a floured bench.
Where bakery images do their job
- Google Business Profile: Your storefront and the interior with the pastry case, so people nearby recognize the place; mix in real photos of your own shop.
- Custom cake gallery: Birthday, wedding and baby shower cakes shot in 4:5 on a plain backdrop, with room to list flavors and serving sizes.
- Daily bread list by message: Today's loaves on cooling racks, sent as the morning's available list before noon.
- Instagram: Dough stretching, flour being dusted, icing poured over a sponge: process shots that say everything is baked on site.
- Flyers and chalkboards: A basket of mixed rolls or an open box of pastries to promote breakfast bundles or weekend specials.
Tips from behind the counter
- If you sell sandwich bread and dinner rolls, don't fill the site with artisan baguettes; show the kind of bread that's actually on your shelves.
- For custom cakes, pick designs you can reproduce. Anyone ordering 'the one in the picture' should get something close.
- A shot of someone carrying a cake box illustrates a service; it isn't a review, so don't place a customer quote next to it.
- Watch for allergens. An image with nuts, berries or seeds on a product you make without them can mislead shoppers with dietary restrictions.
