See modelsWhat does a homeowner need to see before calling a builder?
People hiring a construction company look for order on the jobsite, care in the finishes and a process they can follow: drawings spread on sawhorses with a hard hat nearby, a freshly poured slab, a block wall with a level resting on it, a living room finished with fresh paint. Before-and-after remodel shots and site walk-throughs with plans also help, because they address the most common worry, which is whether anyone is actually supervising the work.
Where jobsite photos belong
- Homepage: A structure going up with scaffolding and clear sky, or a clean white wall with a window, 16:9 with breathing room for your company name.
- Services: Give new builds, remodels, additions and finish work their own image: excavation, a wall coming down, a second-story deck, a room being painted.
- How we work: A sequence of plans, foundation, framing and handover to explain the phases and when each draw is billed.
- Bids and proposals: Detail shots of formwork, rebar or rough-in plumbing before drywall, to back up line items in the estimate.
- LinkedIn and commercial bids: Crews in hard hats and vests reviewing drawings, seen from behind, for decks aimed at developers and property managers.
Advice from the field
- Check that anyone working in the shot wears a hard hat, boots and a harness where needed. A scene without safety gear reflects poorly on any contractor.
- Never present a project you didn't build as your own. Your portfolio should hold your jobs only; stock images can illustrate services and articles.
- Match the scale to your work. If you do homes and remodels, a downtown tower with cranes suggests something you don't offer.
- Before-and-after pairs need the same framing. Compare two different rooms and clients will notice.
