Free stock photos for medical labs

What should a patient see before booking a blood draw?

Patients come to a medical lab with practical questions: do I need to fast, how long is the wait, will the draw hurt, and how do I get my results. Useful photos answer with clean, orderly detail: color-capped tubes in a rack, gloves and a tourniquet set out on a tray, an autoclave at its station, an analyzer loaded with samples, a waiting area with open seats. Scenes built around hands and equipment rather than faces also reflect the privacy patients expect.

Spots on your site that need an image

• Homepage: A lab bench with a microscope and tube racks, with a clear background where you can place walk-in hours.
• Test prep page: A tray with tubes, a sealed needle pack and cotton next to the fasting instructions, so patients know what the visit looks like.
• Mobile phlebotomy: A transport case with a cooler and labeled tubes, showing how a sample travels from a home visit back to the lab.
• Patient portal instructions: Hands holding a printed report or a screen with tables, with nothing readable, to sit beside the login steps.
• Social posts explaining a test: Close-ups in 4:5 of pipettes, culture plates or a centrifuge to go with a short post about, say, a lipid panel.

Choosing lab imagery with care

• Check every image for readable labels, names or results. Even invented ones make readers think patient data is on display.
• Picture only the testing you run in house. If cultures go to a reference lab, don't illustrate that page with an incubator of your own.
• On pages read by needle-anxious patients, swap a close-up of the needle for a tourniquet or cotton ball; it says the same with less tension.
• The person in a lab coat in a stock image is not on your staff, so leave off any name or title.
