See modelsDestination or agency: what should a travel business show?
A travel agency sells two things, the destination and peace of mind. Beaches, mountains and city streets spark the wish to go, but clients also want to see who's planning the trip: an agent mapping out an itinerary on a computer, a map with routes traced in pen, hotel brochures fanned on a desk, an office with a mountain mural where people can stop in to talk. That mix answers the question of why book through you instead of on their own.
Placing images across a travel agency
- Homepage: A wide landscape in 16:9 with open sky for the season or featured destination.
- Package pages: One image per destination showing what the package covers, such as a beach resort, a mountain railway or a guided hike.
- Visit us page: An agent's desk with a map and computer, for clients who'd rather plan in person.
- Instagram Stories and Reels: Vertical 9:16 landscapes with a short line of text to announce group departures or holiday weekend trips.
- Printed brochures: A landscape paired with a detail like a suitcase, passport or tickets, for travel fairs and the front counter.
Tips for trip planners
- Every landscape should be the destination you're selling. A Caribbean beach on a package to a different coast sets up complaints on arrival.
- If the package includes a mid-range hotel, don't pair it with a luxury suite; show what travelers will get.
- Photos of travelers from behind are for inspiration, not proof that one of your groups already took that trip.
- Check the season. Snow in a shot of a destination you sell for summer confuses anyone comparing dates.
